Catcher’s mitts are the hardest gloves to break in and relace — a deep, closed pocket, heavy padding, and a web that takes a beating every inning. That’s exactly why they’re our specialty. We break in ($65), relace, and fully restore catcher’s mitts and first base mitts, baseball and softball. A full relace is $95 plus $10 for a catcher’s or first-base mitt. Optional add-ons: thumb loops +$20; thumb & pinky loops +$35.
Average turnaround is about 7–10 business days from when we receive your glove (about 10–12 for break-ins). We try to accommodate rush orders when we can, but we can’t guarantee them.
Why a catcher’s mitt is different
A catcher’s mitt isn’t shaped like a fielder’s glove and can’t be broken in like one. The pocket has to be deep and fast-closing so the ball sticks; the hinge has to fold clean on every framing motion. Rush it with heat and you cook the leather; do it wrong and you fight a stiff mitt for a whole season. We shape it by hand around the way you receive.
Catcher’s mitt break-in — $65
We form a deep, game-ready pocket and soften the hinge so the mitt closes with a snap, using water, conditioner, our custom break-in machine, and mallets. Tell us how you catch — one-knee, traditional, framing style — and we shape it to that.
Relace & full restoration — $95
Frayed web? Broken laces? A mitt that’s lost its shape? We de-lace, deep clean, condition, re-apply palm adhesive, relace with fresh laces, re-set the pocket, and re-break it. It comes back looking and playing like a brand-new mitt. Custom lace colors welcome.

First base mitts have the same challenges — a long, scooping pocket and a single-piece design that needs its own break-in. We handle those the same way. Relacing a first base mitt is +$10, same as a catcher’s mitt. Optional thumb loops are +$20; thumb & pinky loops are +$35.
